Annual Paddleboard Race & Ocean Festival at the Santa Monica Pier – Tracing it’s roots back to the 1930’s Santa Monica Pier paddleboard races – some of the first in the world – this year’s Southern California event will be an epic competition.
Santa Monica Pier 360 Beach Festival celebrates the best of beach life with an awesome, FREE, all-ages festival! With ocean sports competitions, live music, food and drinks, interactive games, sampling by some of your favorite brands and so much more, Santa Monica Pier 360 offers a peek into iconic SoCal beach culture and brings together thousands of guests for a day of good vibes. Whether you’re hanging with the family, competing on land or at sea, or partying with your friends–Santa Monica Pier 360 Beach Festival has got it all! 
The Paddleboard Race Courses start and finish on the sand immediately south of the Santa Monica Pier and there are 5 ways to compete – Fun Paddle, Long Course, Elite Race, Tommy Bahama SUP / Paddleboard Knockout. All of the races involve a “beach start” meaning that racers will have to navigate in and out of the surf zone. For everyone’s safety, we encourage all racers to make certain they have significant experience with launching from the beach through ocean waves. We encourage novice and even intermediate paddlers to take one or more classes with a certified instructor. f you are new to paddle boarding, or looking to gain experience for the 2015 Tommy Bahama Paddleboard Race & Ocean Festival at the Santa Monica Pier, we have partnered with the best local SUP/Paddleboard companies in the area for lessons, rentals and clinics.
The Ocean Festival features Free Youth Beach Activities that includes the Heal The Bay Ocean Trivia Contest, Board Making Demonstrations, Live Music Performances, Hula Dance Troupes, Pop-up 6 Museum showcasing Historic surfboards, paddleboard, photography, artifacts and more.
