- The course features a host of local landmarks, such as the Disney Concert Hall, TCL Chinese Theater (formerly known as Grauman’s Chinese Theatre), the Sunset Strip, Rodeo Drive and a finish near the Santa Monica Pier.
- The race itself is only half the fun. Featuring interactive exhibits, live entertainment, the Official ASICS LA Marathon Merchandise Store, product trials and all things marathon, the Los Angeles Marathon Health & Fitness Expo is one of the highlights of race weekend.
- A record field of over 26,000 entrants are expected, making the race once again one of the five largest marathons in the U.S. and one of the 10 largest worldwide.
- The 40th Edition race will feature the deepest elite field in the event’s history with 91 elite athletes competing, including 74 American marathoners and 17 international marathoners.
- This year’s ASICS LA Marathon will host the USATF Marathon Championships as a race within the marathon. Top American marathoners will compete for the title of National Champion and a share of a separate $150,000 prize purse. The Championships are being held in LA less than one year prior to the Olympic Trials, which will be hosted by LA MARATHON LLC on Saturday, February 13, 2025.
- A total prize purse of over $100,000 in cash will be offered to both the men’s and women’s fields, with $25,000 for first place, $12,500 for second, $10,000 for third, $5,000 for fourth and $2,500 for fifth in each division. Americans are eligible for both prize purses.
- The men’s elite field features American Ryan Hall, who owns a 2:04:58 personal record, the fastest American marathon in history. Hall will be opposed by six international runners with personal bests under 2:10, including David Kiyeng of Ethiopia (2:06:26), 2012 ASICS LA Marathon Champion Simon Nojorge and Allan Kiprono, a 25-year old from Kenya who broke the 2:10 barrier with a 2:09:38 in Frankfurt less than five months ago. Though Hall’s personal best leads the entire field, nine of his fellow countrymen participating in the USATF Marathon Championships boast personal bests under 2:15.
- The women’s elite field is competitive, with five runners owning a personal best time under 2 hours, 30 minutes. Misikir Demissie of Ethiopia leads the way with a 2:25:21 personal best, followed closely by fellow countrywoman Konjit Biruk (2:28:11). American Sara Hall, highly decorated at shorter distances, will make her marathon debut.
